The 250-year-old Gen-emon kiln (2726 Maruo-hei, Arita-cho; +81-955-42-4164; www.gen-emon.co.jp) preserves the tradition of Shoki Imari pottery whilst adding a contemporary touch to its porcelain line. Executive Director, Shoji Kaneko invites visitors to mix and match when choosing their tableware--finding beauty in the mismatch of style. Dissimilar to Kakiemon's fine decorative lines the hand painted Gen-emon uses energetic bush strokes to colour each piece.Add to Lightbox Download
