Decontamination of Rice field , Iitate Fukushima testing the result of decontamination work july 2012 The government will start decontaminating residential zones in the least polluted area by the end of March 2013. It aims to complete the work by the spring of 2014 to prepare for the return of displaced Iitate residents. even though many experts believe it is a wast of resources since the area can never be truly decontaminated.Before the nuclear crisis started, Iitate had about 6,300 residents. Most of them now live in temporary homes in Fukushima city or elsewhere.
